What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR Therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a model of therapy that helps individuals heal from trauma by processing distressing memories. EMDR Therapy is very different than a “traditional” talk therapy. We use a process to help your nervous system work through the stuck memories and reduce the emotional charge you get from that memory.

The goal of EMDR Therapy is not to erase a memory. The memory will still be with you however the emotional charge that the experience usually has will be lesser.

EMDR Therapy can give you the ability to retell your birth story without crying. You may be able to think back to that infertility diagnosis and not blame yourself for the losses you experienced. Or you could look back at the NICU pictures of your baby with out the overwhelming feeling like you’re sitting in the hospital hearing those beeps. EMDR Therapy is an evidence based approach to help you to feel lighter, more grounded, and supported.

Why Choose the Intensive Approach?

Traditional weekly therapy can be powerful — but sometimes, when you’re carrying a heavy story or feeling stuck in the same patterns, it can help to have more focused time and space for healing.

An EMDR Intensive allows for deeper work within a shorter period of time, giving your brain the opportunity to fully process what’s been overwhelming without the pause between weekly sessions.

This approach is ideal for those who:

  • Feel ready for meaningful, lasting change

  • Have limited time for traditional weekly sessions

  • Have been in therapy before but still feel stuck

  • Are navigating perinatal or postpartum trauma, NICU experiences, or intense feelings that linger long after the event (i.e. infertility process, birth, postpartum period, etc)

An intensive offers healing in days that would typically take months of weekly therapy. Ready to find clarity, calm, and emotional relief that lasts?

What can EMDR Help With?

EMDR therapy can be helpful for a wide range of experiences — especially those that continue to feel “unfinished” or emotionally charged, even long after they’ve happened.

During an EMDR Intensive, we focus on the thoughts, emotions, and body sensations connected to these moments, helping your brain fully process them so they no longer hold the same power.

EMDR Intensives are especially helpful for postpartum and perinatal experiences like:

  • A difficult or traumatic birth

  • Infertility diagnosis or fertility treatments

  • Medical interventions or unplanned cesareans

  • A NICU stay or medical trauma involving your baby

  • Postpartum anxiety, panic, or intrusive thoughts

  • Feeling detached from yourself or motherhood

  • Persistent guilt, shame, or “what-if” thoughts

  • Pregnancy and infant loss

  • The weight of trying to hold it all together

These experiences don’t define you and you don’t have to carry them alone.
Through EMDR Therapy, we can help your brain and body find relief, perspective, and peace again.

Healing takes time—but it doesn’t have to take forever.

These EMDR Intensive Therapy packages offer focused, evidence-based support for processing trauma, from the perinatal and postpartum periods so you can move forward feeling lighter and more at peace.
